Not good news for PE

Another side of Silly Season, first full tiem sponsor I've heard this year that is definitely gone. Hope Kyle can locate another.

"Sprint has decided not to exercise its option to continue as a primary sponsor and so we need to look at other opportunities,'' Petty said Friday.
Sprint has been with Petty Enterprises since 1996 and eventually became the main sponsor of Adam Petty's cars. Kyle Petty became driver of that team following his son's death in 2000.

This is not great news, but I don't see them having a hard time getting a sponsor.

Kind of crappy of Sprint to bail but business is business.

Better than what Lycos (I think it was Lycos!?) did to Johnny Benson a couple years ago though!!:( I hope Kyle gets a better sponsor for the 45 team!! BTW I bailed on Sprint a few months ago with all their hidden charges for their long distance service. Maybe they are having bigger financial problems than we are aware of.

All those phone companies are rip offs. Have you ever had a cell phone? Those companies are the absoulte worst.

I've tried calling to cancel my long distance with MCI Worldcomm but can't get a live person, I've waited for 45 minutes at one point.

This same topic is posted by two different ppl, so here's what I said in the other thread:

Don't be surprised to see Hotwheels jump back on board Petty's car.

They still sponsor all three Petty cars as a minor sponsor and wanted to continue to sponsor Kyle Petty as a full-sponsor, but he ended up racing for Sprint b/c of his son. Now with Sprint gone, Hotwheels can assume the role as primary sponsor again, and probably will.


Surprised I haven't heard any rumors about this yet, but if it does happen, you heard it here first. :)

I know what you mean Paul........had a hell of a time getting Sprint to quit billing me that 6 buck fee after I canceled and went with AT&T. Finally got real ugly on the phone and refused to pay the damned thing.....they got it straightened out after that! And yes I have two cell phones.......but really haven't had any problems with them. I have Cingular (ugh.......Robby!!:) )!! I seldom go over my minutes though.:D

I figured that this would happen since Sprint is in trouble. With the Petty name and how well Kyle is doing I see no problem in Kyle getting another Sponcer. i don't think Hotwheels will come back on board but would not be surprised to see McDonalds knock on the PE door, i have heard rumors that McDonadls is wanting to get back in WC. One thing i hope they try there hardest not to change and that is the overall paint job yes change the colors if you have to but keep the car with the same paint idea with the silver stripe, to make the car still look similar to Adams car.

Not really sorry to see Sprint go, ads are very misleading and their service sucks. I wonder if we are going to hear about a "bookeeping" error about them too!

Paul, all you really need to do to fire MCI is to call Bell Atlantic (NE TEL, NYNEX) to cancel. Then if you want to choose another ld company, call them. Just don't do 10 10 220--it is a ripoff.

I don't know about Sprint's fees, but I don't use AT&T anymore. I didn't realize until I looked at my bill one day they charge $1.50 just to do a statement! So they bill you to send a bill???? What gives?????? I use the 10-10-811 number now and save a lot more money. Pettys can find another sponsor. It would be nice if McDonalds got back into it, they would be a good solid backer for Kyle.

i think with Hotwheels of the truck, carlos is gone and Grissom will go to the 43 truck with or with out a sponcer, and that Jerry will get in the seat for at least the rest of the year so not to mess up what ever things he has planned and if he likes it at the 44 car and PE then offer him the ride for 2003.

I agree that it should not be a problem for a Petty to get a good sponsor. I liked the paint scheme, but not real happy with sprint. I would love to see hotwheels come back as the primary sponsor though.

I think PE needs to get rid of one of the cars AND the truck.
