What's up with this? Anyone know anything?
from NASCAR.com
MEXICO CITY -- NASCAR officials said they would look into an alleged confrontation between Robby Gordon and Brad Parrott, crew chief for Carl Edwards, before Sunday's Telcel Motorola 200 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
According to witnesses, Parrott approached Gordon before driver introductions and said something to Gordon. As Gordon turned away, Parrott allegedly thrust his knee into Gordon's groin.
Gordon then grabbed Parrott by the neck, but before Gordon could throw a punch, onlookers stepped in. Eventually, the melee was separated, with no apparent injuries.
NASCAR vice president Jim Hunter said the sanctioning body would investigate the incident.
"We'll take a look at it after the race," Hunter said. "Right now, it's hearsay."
Why the confrontation? The exact cause isn't known, but Gordon was forced to the rear of the field after changing engines, while Edwards was able to maintain his ninth starting spot.
I have no clue what this would be all about. The last line there, doesn't seem to add up. What the last line implies is that there was some animosity between the two because Gordon had to go to the back and Carl did not, but the witnesses said that Parrott attacked Robby first...you don't usually say, "hey tough luck about starting at the back" and then knee someone in the groin. Before the race, there as a lot of coverage of Robby and he looked really happy and all, didn't seem like he'd recently been kneed in the groin and then choked someone out.

I dunno but regardless taking a knee to the balls is no fun. Robby must have said something about Brad's mama.

Robby needs to learn how to throw a punch other than grabbing....you would have though his little incident with Toni would have taught him.

I believe Lee Montgomery of NASCAR.com reported this and if he doen't know (or knows and refuses to tell) then all we can do is speculate. Why not wait til something comes out before we all get in a uproar?

No one is getting in an uproar.

Hey, I'm not in an uproar, if anything, I, as a big Robby Gordon fan, am willing to believe it is probably Robby's fault...that's why I was saying it didn't make any sense that Brad Parrott would have said something to him and then kneed him...besides, I would think the basis for just grabbing someone would be to prevent them from hitting you again, not to steady them for a good punch. Robby may have a temper, but he isn't stupid.

There's more information at NASCAR.com now. Sounds like Robby said something he shouldn't have, but I still don't think that's any reason to knee him in the groin. I, personally, think Carl Edwards is handling it like a true professional. Robby, surprisingly seems to be handling it better than Brad Parrott, too. Sounds like someone's upset that they got choked out.

If someone knees me in the groin I am gonna deck him and that is what Robbie should have done......assuming that the reported story is true.
Having said that I guess we should wait until Nascar sanitizes the story some before jumping to conclusions. :)

Or we could wait for some real facts to come out. Bits and pieces drippling out are not usually reliable tidbits to draw many intelligent conclusions from. :)

Said Robby:
""Obviously, he can't handle any pressure or criticism at all. And he fights like a little girl."
Thats damn funny.

What makes Robby funny is he says this stuff with the personality of a dried up biscuit.

I have to agree. Look at it this way, regardless of what was said, what was done, who was in the wrong, going for the groin is against guy code and deserves choking in retaliation, the only thing that would have been better than choking was a good pimp slap, but that would probably be a lot worse legally. I say they call it fair.

Come on guys...if he'd have been kneed in the jewels by anyone other than a grasshopper he wouldn't be choking anyone.
I for one am getting sick of hearing some these Nascar crybabies mouthoff about how tough they are. Meet off the track and do something about it or shut up and race.
At least the ole boys would back up the talk. Even the holy Michael Waltrip will cheap shot a guy.

A grasshopper? I don't know, Parrott ain't exactly a tiny little man, I don't know if anyone has ever met Robby, but he ain't exactly a big guy. I think a crybaby would respond to a knee to the groin by crying, not choking the guy that kneed him. Besdies, the ole boys may have backed it up, but you can't even do anything off the track and not get in trouble with Big Brother NASCAR, look at what happened to Jimmy Spencer in his own home, he lost his ride, sponsor and everything when that happened. Oh, and don't tell me you fall for the "holy Michael Waltrip" act, you know that's all a show.

Obstructing justice - no matter where it takes place - is not quite the same as two guys having it out with no one else around.
What I'm saying is if Parrot gave him a good one, he wouldn't be doing anything other than hitting the ground pretty damned quick.

The reason it's taking so long for NASCAR to announce it's decision is because they were waiting for FOL to get these produced so ALL Officials questioning Brad Parrot would have one.

right, you wouldn't want to get him angry without protection.
